Why & How You Should Use Cleansing Oil

real-art-moisture-cleansing-oil-use

As far as I recall, I think my skincare revolution started when I discovered cleansing oil. Before that, taking care of my skin did not go further than washing it and it was more of a duty than something I enjoyed doing. When I started using the layering method, I became aware of the importance of taking care of my skin, not only the outside but also the inside, by eating healthier, exercising and drinking a lot of water. My love for cosmetics opened me to a much healthier lifestyle, because when you start caring for your skin you also want to care for your body and mind. To me, cleansing oil is the must-have product everyone should use. It is a very good way to start your journey into the layering world. Nowadays, many European and American brands have created their own versions of cleansing oil and it is easy to find, so no excuses. Cleansing oils exist in different versions adapted to every skin condition and issue. Prices range from cheap to expensive. That is why at the end of this article I’ll make a list of good cleansing oils I’ve tried and that I recommend.

Why should you use cleansing oil?

  1. Cleansing oil is the softest cleansing product

Cleansing oil texture makes is one of the softest makeup remover. The oily texture literally melts makeup. It is a non-aggressive method to remove makeup without harming skin. People with oily skin may fear that this kind of product might clog their pores even more. Actually cleansing oils are “good oils” that help removing sebum “bad oil”. After massaging your skin when you rinse it, as well as removing the makeup, cleansing oil at the same time, also removes all the dirty and excess sebum from your face. Cleansing oils pull out the dirt without clogging pores and leave your skin clean, soft and hydrated.

  1. Cleansing oil also brings many nutrients to your skin

The thing about Asian cosmetics is they are not created in order to hide your flaws but in a way to heal your skin so that you do not have to conceal it anymore. In Asian beauty, skincare is at the heart of everything. Makeup is also created with nutrients and active ingredients that’ll help make your skin healthier. Cleansing oil is no exception to this rule. Not only is it removing your makeup but at the same time hydrating and soothing your skin. Cleansing oil is the first step of layering and will prepare your skin to receive the following products. There are many types of cleansing oils adapted to every skin type, each type contains different active ingredients made to help skin.

  1. Cleansing oil is the most efficient makeup remover

As a fervent supporter of cleansing oil, I think it is the best makeup remover for all skin types. As said in the two previous points, it is the softest cleanser and a product that also brings nutrients to your skin. It is also the most efficient cleanser, the oily texture melts your makeup, it erases all traces of makeup, dirt and unclog your pores. The oil also removes sebum and leaves your skin clean and smooth, ready to receive the following products. As a layering addict, I recommend double washing which consists of removing your makeup with a cleansing oil and clean your face with a foam cleanser. Choose products adapted to your skin needs for optimum result.

How should you use cleansing oil?

  1. Take one or two pumps of products in your hand, it will be enough for the entire face, warm it a few seconds in your hands before applying onto face.

  2. Gently massage your face in circles for a few minutes, making sure you reach every areas and particularly the one with most makeup, eye, eyelashes and lips. Enjoy this moment to relax yourself and give a little massage to your face.

  3. Add a little bit of water to emulsion the product and massage gently for a few more seconds, then rinse with lukewarm water until all the product is removed.

  4. Proceed with the following steps of your layering routine.

In order to get a good start at using cleansing oil, you need to get your hand on an efficient product, here is a non-exhaustive list of my favourite cleansing oil, tested and approved.
